The Kids Have It!

Our Hotova CrossFit Kids Summer Camp is a blast– just ask the kids!
The three-mornings-a-week class set up specially for our young athletes aged 8-12 is full and busy.  Based on its success, it is something we plan to do again at Hotova CrossFit.
We asked our CrossFit Kids what they like about their workouts, and here’s what they had to say:
“I like that I can go fast and see what my body can do.”
“I like the burpees– I’m really good at ’em!”
“I like to hang out with my friends and not be bored.”
“I like it that we play while we are working hard!”
That’s it.
We make our kids’ camp fun, while always teaching the basics of health and fitness through the CrossFit model.  You can find out more on the philosophy through the official CrossFit website:, but, basically, it’s this:
“Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency and then Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement.”

Here at Hotova CrossFit, camp sessions began with more fun and games, and have evolved over the weeks to focus more on the good mechanics of various moves and activities.  We are consistent with what we teach and how we teach.  Our young athetes know they will all be held to the same standards, even as we celebrate their individual achievements.
So, whether your child wants to be a better team-sport athlete or you just want to get your child off the couch, CrossFit may be the answer.  Check back here for future plans with Hotova CrossFit Kids.  In the meantime, remember that children learn from the examples set by the adults in their lives, so work to inspire your kids.
And don’t forget to have fun!
