Who I Am:

A native of Brazil, I moved to the United States to work as a nanny for a family in Minnesota. Later, I worked various jobs and, at one of them, I met my future husband, Dean. I was not a very active child. I did play soccer in high school, but, growing up, I was very shy and it was a struggle for me to take part in sports or school events. I got turned on to CrossFit when I met Dean in 2013. I have enjoyed helping him start and grow our business. I also work as a house cleaner and a server at a restaurant, but I most love teaching afternoon and evening classes at the box. It thrills me that we are building a healthy community at Hotova CrossFit; we are all getting to know one another and we support one another. As a team, we believe that together we achieve more and united we will succeed. When I am not working with the team, I like to go the lake, soak up some rays, relax and clear my mind.

Why I Coach:

CrossFit is a wonderful way of life because it truly fits everyone. We are able to customize workouts and scale them to any individual’s fitness level and goals. There is no excuse. Personally, I love doing any moves with barbells; my favorite WOD is the challenging Hero WOD Riley, which is: 1.5 mile run, 150 burpees, 1.5 mile run. Dean and I once took on this workout, and it took everything from me. I did not think I would be able to finish it, but, I did, and I beat Dean! I continue to have personal fitness goals, including doing a muscle-up.

Advice for Beginners:

It is never too late to start! Once you take that first step, the rest will take care of itself. I was once in your shoes, and I was very scared to try CrossFit. I thought I was not strong or fit enough to do it. In truth, you will never be completely ready, so, just do it and you will never look back!
