FrostFit and Coats For Kids 2017

By November 5, 2017 Community

Getting a good workout is something good you do for yourself.  Yet, we all recognize that we are here to do more– to do good for others.  CrossFit is built around community; it’s how we exercise, how we interact, how we live.  A large part of our mission at Hotova CrossFit is to help one another, both inside and outside the box.  Our coach-owners recognize Hotova as a vital part of the town of Buffalo and the surrounding communities.  Multiple times a year, we combine our love of fitness with ongoing goals to give back to those in need.

This fall, we set up a new and used winter gear drive to benefit children in our area.  The Coats for Kids campaign in 2017 was taken over by Love INC Big Woods chapter and the Buffalo Food Shelf, to provide warm outerwear to those who need it.  We dedicated our Saturday workouts in October to this cause, with Coach Dean programming special FrostFit WODs– just a bit of chill thrown into the usual sweatiness– and members brought coats and jackets, snow pants, hats, scarves and gloves to add to the collection.

In the end, Hotova CrossFit was able to donate 31 winter coats and numerous other items to the Coats For Kids campaign.  The warm items were delivered to the Buffalo Food Shelf and set out for their donation events.  It’s heartwarming to know that our members care about all people and all areas of wellness.  Stay tuned to find out how we’ll next lend a hand!
